Dawn Fraser Baths Virtual

We were engaged by Inner West Council to create a VR experience of the Dawn Fraser Baths in Balmain, Sydney, Australia primarily as a teaching resource for high school history but also for the general public.

Using state-of-the-art photogrammetry techniques from the ground and air assisted by laser scanning, we created a high resolution digital twin of not only the pool, but the point and reserve next to the pool and the entrance way also. Further to that, we photographed material from the archive and digitised a range of objects and details to add to the experience.

Using our bespoke Web XR codebase, we deployed a rich and interactive VR experience which includes historical pictures situated where they were originally taken and also reconstructions of now demolished buildings such as the previous versions of the pool and the box factory and rowing club which used to be adjacent.

Finally, we developed and delivered a rich and interactive companion website utilising 3D, 360, deep zoom and a specially customised comparison viewer.
